2020 Chili Cook Off Competitions
Margarita Contest, Friday, February 7th
Rules:
- Any type or flavor of Margarita is allowed. They may be slush, on the rocks, or neat.
- Contestants must use the 5 liters of tequila that is provided to them by the Chili Cook Off at the contest.
- Only one margarita entry per person or team is allowed, although you are allowed to also enter the salsa or chili contests.
- Contestants are responsible for supplying all their own utensils & products (other than tequila), relating to their margarita submissions.
- A table, chairs, ice, and tasting cups will be provided by The CCO for use in serving the margaritas to the public.

Salsa Contest, Friday, February 7th
Rules:
- In the salsa competition , there are no rules as to ingredients. Salsa can be made at the Cook Off or made at home and brought “ready to eat.”
- Each contestant must prepare a minimum of 15 liters of salsa (or 400 samplings).
- Only one entry per person, group, or restaurant is allowed, but you are allowed to also enter the margarita or chili contests.
- Contestants are responsible for supplying all their own utensils & products relating to their salsa submission and are responsible to maintain the salsa during the event.
- Chips, tasting cups, a table, and chairs for use in serving the public will be provided.

Chili Contests, Saturday, Feb. 8th or Sunday, Feb. 9th
Rules:
- In these competitions, chili is defined as any kind of meat, combination of meats, or vegetables cooked with chili peppers, various other spices, and other ingredients. Each entry must be labeled “Meat, Vegan, or Vegetarian”.
- One entry per person, group, or restaurant is allowed.
- All ingredients must be pre-cooked & treated prior to the event – chili is to be brought “ready to eat.”
- Each contestant must prepare a minimum of 20 liters (or 400 samplings) of chili.
- Contestants are responsible for supplying all their own serving utensils & products and are responsible to maintain the chili during the event.
- A gas stove, tables, chairs, crackers, and tasting spoons and cups for use in serving chili, to the public will be provided.

*Entry Fees:
- The fee for each contest is $250 Pesos, non- refundable.
- The deadline for each entry is Saturday, Feb. 1st.
- To be listed in The CCO Program contestants’ names and entry name must be received by Jan. 23rd.
Each contestant may decorate their table, hang a sign above their space, and give out business cards or flyers. Donations to any organization or charity will not be allowed.
Prizes: The winners’ of each contest , 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, will be determined by the decision of 3 independent judges. Prizes will be $1000 peso for 1st, $750 pesos for 2nd, and $500 pesos for 3rd, as well as an engraved plaque. Each contest will also have one Peoples’ Choice winner to be determined by the highest total number of votes received by the general public on that day. The prize will be an engraved platter. Prizes will be awarded on the CCO stage daily at approx. 4:30.
Any contestant found to be bribing or enticing the judges or public to obtain votes in an unethical manner will be immediately disqualified.
Competitions will begin daily at 12:30 with set up beginning at 11:30. Parking will be provided near the competition area.
